Learning that children experience Little Shepherd’s Day(1st educational cycle)Shepherd life was once part of childhood on Pohorje.During Little Shepherd’s Day, pupils:
  • bake apples over an open fire,
  • learn about shepherd games, or “pastirske tümarije”,
  • make a shepherd’s hat from felt,
  • pick meadow flowers,
  • bake potatoes in hot ashes.
The programme takes place at Ančnikovo Gradišče above Jurišna Vas.Miller’s Day(1st educational cycle)From grain to bread – an experience children can truly feel.At Šetor’s Mill by the Bojtina Stream, pupils:
  • learn how a water mill works,
  • grind flour,
  • understand the importance of the mill and the miller in the past.
With the freshly ground flour, they continue to Marot’s Homestead in Šmartno na Pohorju, where they:
  • bake their own loaf of bread in a traditional bread oven,
  • listen to stories about life on Pohorje 100 or more years ago,
  • take the baked bread home.
